Understanding depression and anxiety through your history and lived experience

Working with Depression & Anxiety

Approach & Methods

I work with depression and anxiety through an integrative lens, drawing on psychoanalytic theory, attachment theory, and intersubjective approaches to understand how your experiences are rooted in your history and relational patterns. I meet you where you are: if you need immediate coping skills, we focus there first, and explore deeper patterns when you're ready—or we stay with what works for you. My toolkit includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which can be especially helpful for quieting the struggle against your own mind, along with somatic and neurobiological approaches—breathing, movement, co-regulation—because some experiences live in the body and nervous system in ways that talk alone cannot reach. I'm interested in both what you think and what you feel, and I believe that insight can be powerful for some people, while others benefit most from concrete skills and changed patterns.

My Philosophy

Depression and anxiety often travel together, but not always—and the path that brought you here matters. I help you develop a practice of acceptance (not resignation) and explore what your mood is trying to tell you, because thoughts like "I shouldn't feel this way" typically make things worse. I encourage behavior activation, connection with others, and curiosity about the roots of your depression or anxiety, which often trace back to earlier experiences. I'll discuss medication as one possible tool, with full honesty about what it can and cannot do. My aim is to help you understand yourself more fully and build a life that feels more livable, even—and especially—when difficult feelings persist.
